About Praia do Guajiru

Praia do Guajiru beach is the perfect location for those seeking natural beauty, pristine beaches, coral reefs, peace tranquillity and not forgetting the stunning sand dunes or the year round sunshine. Just 3 degrees south of the equator, Praia do Guajiru in northeast Brazil is home to some of the most spectacular beaches in South America. Boasting a tropical climate, the cleanest air outside of the Antarctic according to NASA, average temperatures of 27 degrees on the beach AND in the water, Praia do Guajiru is a very special place.

For many years, Praia do Guajiru has been a favourite retreat and holiday home location for wealthy business people from Fortaleza, just 148km's to the south, but now it is attracting attention from much further afield. Tourists from many other areas of Brazil, especially from the south, are discovering the quiet appeal of the area and thanks to huge immense publicity about Brazil's scaling of the world's economic ladder; international visitors are also becoming interested in the NE Brazil area around Fortaleza.

A short ride in a buggy or by horse along the beach and you are in the neighbouring town of Flexeiras, where you will find a selection of local bars and restaurants in which to kick back and enjoy the Brazilian lifestyle of timelessness.

The reefs keep away the larger waves and in turn make Praia do Guajiru a wonderful place for kitesurfers and windsurfers who can take advantage of the almost constant offshore breezes. Surfers of all denominations should speak to the locals and find out where best to surf, as the coral reefs that protect the bay are sometimes only inches below the surface and wiping out in the wrong place could be catastrophic.

Surrounded by sand dunes, tropical plants and palm trees, uninterrupted views of the sandy beaches in either direction, with the warm waters of the Atlantic lapping against the shores as kitesurfers and windsurfers swoop amongst the "jangadas" (local fishing boats)

One of the most memorable sights, which if you are lucky enough to catch are the astral beach parties held at full moon on the local beaches. Local beaches villages and towns include Flecheiras, Mundau and Lagoinha all of which are just a few minutes away.
